Piano Lessons
Teaching Philospohy
Music is such an enriching aspect of life. Learning how to play an instrument is one of the most valuable and rewarding endeavors to pursue. It is my goal to to help each student cultivate a love for music. I combine my education in classical music with modern teaching methods to create a well-rounded learning experience. I aim to make every lesson encouraging, engaging, motivating, productive, constructive, and detailed so that each student can experience the fulfilling rewards of pursuing music.
Lessons
Private piano lessons are held 1-2 times a week in the comfort of your home, and consist of individualized lesson plans that cater to each student. Lessons include technique exercises, repertoire that is selected by both the teacher and student, music theory instruction, ear training, musical activities, and more. All ages and levels of piano from beginning to advanced are welcome.
Practice
Consistent practice is essential in order to progress and retain new information. Students are suggested to practice at least five days a week. I encourage a goal-oriented practice which includes setting specific, achievable goals for the practice time, and achieving those goals by the end of the practice session. In lessons, we will exercise these effective practice habits so the student can apply them in their individual practice time throughout the week.
During the students individual practice time, I encourage parents to supervise a portion of the practice session, help encourage a regular practice time, and create an environment with little distractions. Please set aside a few minutes each week to sit with your child and ask them questions about what they are practicing.
Recitals
Recitals occur one to two times per year. Student participation is highly encouraged. Both the teacher and student will decide together on which piece to play for the recital, and the teacher will help the student prepare months in advance so that they will feel as ready as possible! Recital dates TBA. Additional recital fees may apply.
